Branding Tips for Entrepreneurs from a Graphic Designer

As a Graphic Designer with a background in Commercial Art, I can't even begin to count how many times entrepreneurs have asked me to "help" with Branding. This trend has seemingly escalated especially over the last year or so.

The biggest challenge with this is that many small business owners know their business and their products/service, but they don't know anything about design. So, by the time they ask for my help, it is usually necessary to start the branding process from the beginning. Many of them have poured their heart and soul into building their business, and it is taken as a personal slight when I recommend starting the branding project from scratch.

So, in the next few weeks I will be posting my Branding Tips for Entrepreneurs here. (There is way too much info to cover in a single post.) Hopefully, this will give many of you a better understanding of the branding process, and give you a clear vision of what you want your brand will look like.

Most entrepreneurs ARE the business. They are the Office Manager, the CEO, the Marketing Department, the Sales Department, the R&D, and with video consulting becoming a trend; the Audiovisual Tech….This usually leaves little time for "The Graphics/Art Department" and even less of a budget!

Don't worry! I will show you quick tricks for fast results. I will also show you online tools and programs where you can DIY for free (or nearly free), NO PHOTOSHOP necessary!

Of course, a small few of you might decide you want very specific graphics, design projects, or concepts that will still require a graphic designer's expertise. I can help with that, but, that is not the intention here.

If you have already started your small business, you most likely already come up with a name for it. However, if you haven't yet, here is some good info to help you come up with a name for your business.

Not every business has a Tagline or Slogan. Not every business needs one. BUT, EVERY BUSINESS OWNER should KNOW what sets her business apart from others! What do you think you do differently that inspired you to start a business in the first place?
If you have gotten to this point in your business, you likely already put a lot of thought into your branding without even realizing it.
You just need help expressing it graphically.
Coming up, I intend to show you the key elements of branding design:

  • Color
  • Fonts
  • Images
  • Design Elements

So stay tuned!

Love What You do!

One of the goals for this blog is to encourage Entrepreneurs and everyday people to do what they love and love what they do.

Site Build It does that everyday...Just a quick share of a video I found the other day.

Jill and I have a lot in common. She loved San Fransisco so much that, with the help of SBI, she built www.sftourismtips.com. Just like I built www.aruba-sunsets.com out of my love for Aruba, with the help of SBI (Site Build It).

4 BIG PICTURE Steps to Biz Online

As stormy as the internet ocean may seem, it is NOT constantly changing, at least not at a fundamental level.

Sure, there are always important new developments coming along, and things that were important a few years ago drifting off into irrelevance.

But beneath all that surface flux, solid ground of e-business remains unchanged. When you are starting out keep your eyes on the BIG picture.

  1. Identify your unique place on the web. Find your niche and create your unique voice.
  2. Build an audience. This is true whether you have a blog, a website or an e-mail list.
  3. Keep your readers engaged. Give them GREAT content and VALUABLE information.
  4. THEN AND ONLY THEN - Monetize! Introduce them to the BEST products and services for your niche.
Once you understand the big picture of online business success the "how" details take care of themselves.

Hey there.

I know I havn't posted much in the last month or so.

I have been working on 2 (THAT'S RIGHT!!! I SAID TWO, web businesses.)

Many of you know that my aruba-sunsets.com site has been up since November 2008, although I can't say it made much profit the first few years.

Well, now that that is running on autopilot, I took some time to focus on a few new ventures.

One is a new Site Build It! Site, in an entirely new niche! The hardest part there is deciding what I want to write about and teach.

The second one is an e-mail marketing business in the Personal Development niche. Funny how I fell into this business...

I will be setting up a blog for both businesses and I will post a link as soon as it is up!

I took a course on the law of attraction and goal setting called Future of Wealth. The same guy who taught that course, was offering a internet e-mail marketing course called Inbox Blueprint. He also had some other business products he endorsed, like selling on Amazon, and creating a branded product, etc. But, I am just not ready to sell my own PHYSICAL products at this point.

Anyway. I just thought I would check in and let you know what I have been up to.

How Lazy Affiliates Make Money With Facebook

Well here's something you don't see every day. This video got my attention in the first 2 seconds!

Remember Chris Carpenter? Well, he is FLYING 5,000 feet in the air, with NO AIRPLANE in this video. For reals!

Chris is the guy who, about 10 years ago, turned the marketing world upside down with his Google Cash program. He PROVED that it was possible to make tons of money online with out a website or a product bputting affiliate links directly into ADWORDS ads.

Well, he’s back he's doing it again! This time with Facebook and Bing.

You've got to see this video - it’s got 7 wicked easy steps to create massive profit from Facebook. By the way, all his techniques are free (so this is not paid Facebook ads). Just like his Google Cash program, this one requires:

- No website

- No email list

- No product

- No Selling

Trust me, checkout the video - you’ll learn TONS!

Watch This Video: 7 Simple Facebook Steps! (He also uses his flying as a metaphor for online marketing.) But, that doesn't make it any less cool! I so want to try it... flying,
AND
his new Facebook Affiliate Marketing Program that capitalizes on recent changes at Facebook. I'm tellin' ya... watch the video. Its FREE (for now) to see how it works.

If you decide to purchase the complete program, there is a 60 day, money back guarantee, so you can't loose. Think of all those people who regretted not jumping on the Google Adsense bandwagon at the start, before everyone else flooded the market. Don't miss out on this opportunity!
